Organic vineyard area in Spain increases by more than 8

In 2021, 15% of the total vineyard area was dedicated in our country to organic production.

 

There are 142,177 hectares representing an increase of 8.4% over last year, according to the latest report published by MAPA. In 2020 there were 131,000 ha of organic vineyards in Spain and in 2019 there were 121,000, according to data from the Ministry of Agriculture.

Castilla-La Mancha is the autonomous community with the largest area, 62,270 ha and 0.7% less than last year, and one of the two, together with the Canary Islands, which reduced it. In 2021, the increases recorded by Catalonia (14%), Valencia (22%) and Castile and León (21%). Murcia and the Basque Country increased their ecological vineyards by around 17% and Navarre, La Rioja and the Balearic Islands by about 15%.
